Yesterday, my dad, my Papa, and I flew to our friends' grass strip for an annual fly in. Elaina and I (above) are very fortunate to have grown up in and around airplanes, experiencing general aviation. We both have done some flight training and are working on our licenses. Her family hosts fly ins often, with the largest this time each year. About fifty airplanes came in for this event, one I've heard about for years. I'm so glad I finally made it this year!
My uncle finally got there with my cousin and his wife and daughter. The Stells were well represented at this fly in.
Airplanes weren't the only toys there.
Thanks to Tim for the ride in his Land Rover!
What a fun day! I can't believe I get to fly a twin Comanche, especially with two experienced pilots sitting back and letting me take the controls. And there were so many other incredible airplanes to look at yesterday! It was great to catch up with Elaina and finally experience her family's airplane and tractor museum.
what a cool hobby and a fun time!
ReplyDeleteI love this! When I was a small child my dad and grandfather built and flew experimental aircrafts - I spent many, many summers attending fly-ins just like this in Wisconsin, including the EAA fly in in Oshkosh, WI! Looks like great weather for an event!
